Registered Manager - Sarah
I started my career in care in 2010 as a carer working in a dementia care home and have spent the last 14 years gaining experience and qualifications in the care and support setting. My roles have included Team leader, Suite manager, Hotel Services manager, Support Service manager and most recently Senior support service manager, I have vast experience in Dementia care, Learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and Mental Health.
I am very excited to be the new Registered Manager and to be working with a great team at Island Sands.

Deputy Manager - Natalie
I have always lived within the Swale area and Isle of Sheppey. The beautiful commute to Minster-on-Sea along the beachfront is breathtaking.

Working within the care team, I have developed my skills and knowledge from being a carer to my current deputy manager role. Supporting people with long-term conditions, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health and acquired injuries, I have been able to tailor my support to a person-centred approach, connecting with each person in a way that will benefit them the most.

With the re-branding of this homely-feeling residential home, our philosophy is that we will help create an environment where people we support can continue to feel they can blossom and thrive within their own individual needs.
Chief Operating Officer - Amanda
I have worked in health and social care for 37 years.

I am passionate about high quality care delivery and the residents receiving the right care, treatment, and support that they need and deserve.

I have commissioned new services historically and also improved services nationally when I worked for a consultant company. I started working in the care sector as a Carer and worked my way up to senior management level.

I understand the challenges associated with the job and feel best placed to assist the Carers and ancillary staff on a practical level. There is not a job in the Care home that I haven’t done.

I can empathise with residents and families with regard to how difficult it can be to make the decision to move into a Care home and the emotions that may bring about; however, seeing the positive changes that the move can make is so refreshing. Boredom, loneliness, and isolation are three plagues that can affect older people, and just by being amongst friends, included and valued as a person, I have seen the remarkable difference a move into a care home can make.

Independence is a great thing, but we all need a little help and support sometimes; staff are not here to take people's independence away; we are here to give the extra support that is needed to maintain that independence as long as possible.

To feel safe and secure in a homely environment and to know help is always on hand is so reassuring and it is with that knowledge that I have seen people flourish in the Care home environment. The daily worries are taken care of and residents and families can just sit back and enjoy their time building happy memories and quality time together.

I am really excited to be a part of Island Sands Residential Home.  I can see, and feel that the home is filled with care, kindness and laughter, with great staff headed by Sarah.  Creating "magic moments" and placing the residents at the heart of everything is clearly evident at Island Sands Residential Home.
